1. Honeymoon Pick: Hawaii

Hawaii can be expensive, but you get what you pay for. The beaches are pristine, the climate is warm all year, it’s perfectly safe to explore outside the grounds of your resort, and you don’t have to worry about traveler’s diarrhea ruining your romantic getaway! And if you like to to be adventurous, you’ll be glad to know there aren’t any insects, snakes, or animals that can kill you in the jungle. (Because running into any of that would kind of ruin your honeymoon, right?)

If you want a perfectly carefree destination for your honeymoon, that also happens to be ridiculously gorgeous, then go to Hawaii.

2. Honeymoon Pick: Italy

Italy is home to some of the most romantic places in the world. You can head for Venice, a classic choice, and snuggle up to your mate as a gondolier takes you gently down the famed canals of this fine city. There is also Bellagio (the “pearl of the lake”), an intimate village on Lake Como – walk the quaint stone lanes, take in the panoramic views of Lake Como, and enjoy leisurely meals in its cafes and restaurants. Or do as the ancient romans did, and head for the Mediterranean’s limestone Isle of Capri, which is home to a diverse range of attractions.

3. Honeymoon Pick: Greece

Just saying the word “Greece” conjures up images of Greek gods in all their glory, and of course, togas. You won’t run out of things to see and do here – it is not only a prime choice for a romantic escape, but can be one of the greatest adventures of your life. Follow in the footsteps of the ancients as you explore the Parthenon and the Acropolis. Then spend some time at the glistening Santorini coast. And don’t forget about the food – the greeks really know their way around food! Dine on spanakopita (spinach pie), white bean soup (a Greek staple!), and moussaka.

4. Honeymoon Pick: Dominican Republic

With our cold Canadian winters, a warm escape is always a plus. The Dominican Republic has the added advantage of being an extremely budget-friendly destination, with lots of all-inclusive beach resorts to choose from. But as romantic as those resorts may be, you’ll still want to explore a bit, and so you should! Go diving off the north coast, challenge yourself with a hike to the unspoiled wilderness surrounding the Damajaqua Cascades (27 Waterfalls), and go swimming in the beautiful lagoon of Hoyo Azul.

5. Honeymoon Pick: France

France is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in Europe, which is no surprise. It is home to Paris, the “City of Love,” after all. Head to the top of the Eiffel Towel for a kiss with the love of your life. Bask in the warm sun at the Côte d’Azur. Indulge your inner gourmand with romantic meals at fine french bistros. And don’t forget to indulge in a glass of Champagne, in where else – the place of its birth, the Champagne region of France.

Where will you honeymoon?

Whether you want culture, adventure, a relaxed beach vibe, or a little bit of each, you’ll find it in the destinations listed above. Just be sure to take lots of pictures, so you’ll never forget your trip of a lifetime with the love of your life!
